Some might say that animals are treated much better on small farms, and that the mistreatment of animals which we describe only happens in large-scale operations. Unfortunately, these "small farms" are constantly bought out by these conglomerates. The "family farm" has basically ceased to exist. The majority of meat in stores and supermarkets comes from large-scale operations which constantly mistreat animals.
