Vegetarians generally eat 20-25% less fat than meat eaters, resulting in long lasting health benefits. Don't assume, however, that a vegetarian diet will guarantee weight loss - it all depends on the kind of vegetarian dishes you eat. Depending on how much oil/butter you use while cooking (or which restaurants you eat in), vegetarian dishes can be pretty high in fat (albeit not animal fat) and can lead to weight gain if you're not careful.
